And Here For 'Managing Abandonment Issues Through Recovery'
I love Oscar night! Word is that the front runner for lead actor is Jeff Bridges for his role as Bad Blake in Crazy Heart. I hope that he wins it and I'm sure that he will.
Watching the first two thirds of this movie was not easy or fun. It was painful. It was all about lost potential, being out of control, screwing up, slowing watching someone kill themself and the emotional darkness of a very likable character. I was asking myself why I was in the theatre when the movie turned around. The movie changed because the man changed. He got into Recovery. We all know what that means for alcoholics but it just as easily could have been Recovery from anything - Bad's main drug of choice was alcohol. My definition of Recovery is just knowing the truth about you and then working on your issues whole heartedly.
I'm going to ruin part of the movie for you - the hero doesn't end up with the girl. Addictions sometimes kill relationships. But Bad did end up with himself, his creativity, fame, fortune and most importantly an infusion of integrity. That is even better than ending up with the girl in my opinion. All in all it was a very powerful movie. Recovery works and it rocks no matter what the truth is about us. I recommend the movie and I highly recommend Recovery!
